We are in our 5th year of sponsoring “The Acacia Prize”, an award for the top student in the People at Work education module as part of UCD’s B. Comm. degree in the School of Business.
This degree is at the forefront of business and management education in Ireland. As part of this course Students critically engage with the material which considers who works, what workers do and what it’s like to work in the context of the major influences on the world of work.
These include:
- globalisation
- differing forms of capitalism and their governance
- European integration
- economic cycles
- as well as the local, national and transnational strategies and responses of management and labour
Fergus MacMahon, Acacia Operations Director is quoted as saying, “At a time when further investment in Higher Education is paramount to secure Irelands’ long term competitiveness Acacia are proud to play our part. By sponsoring the Acacia award and other initiatives we continue to underline the importance of education & training in our skills base.”
Mr. Stephen Bigger is the 2017 recipient of “The Acacia Prize” for achieving first place in the People at Work module. Stephen is from the United States and is studying International Commerce. We wish Stephen and all the students in UCD’s B. Comm. degree every success in the remainder of their studies.
