Acacia & Sustainability

by | Dec 20, 2021 | CSR, Environmental, Facilities Management, Sustainability

The events of recent years have transformed what is considered responsible business. In Acacia we have taken some time to consider how best to change and adapt for the future of our business so that we implement sustainable practices for ourselves, our supply chain, and our current and future clients.

Our responsible business policy is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and our purpose as a company. We want to help our clients grow their business by co-designing and delivering bespoke, sustainable solutions for optimal facilities management. As facilities management service providers, we are uniquely placed to understand how sustainable development can be implemented in a business. Facility managers have an overview of the functionality of a building and have an awareness of compliance and health and safety and how best to use these to improve sustainability.

The four key pillars of our responsible business plan will focus on our people, our planet, our value chain, and our innovation. Through focusing on these areas, we try to guarantee that all our employees are treated fairly and equally and that we create a culture of inclusion and respect in Acacia. Minimising the effect our business has on the environment around us whilst also seeking to extend our responsible business practices to our procurement efforts are part of our plan. Sustainability and responsible business practices are furthered by having an open mind to innovation and technology. We support the use of technology in reducing our carbon footprint.

Our objectives include:

  • reducing energy, water, waste, and carbon throughout our direct operations,
  • promote workplace health and wellbeing for all employees through the introduction of a wellness strategy,
  • comply with all relevant environmental, health and safety and social regulations and standards,
  • adopt a sustainable procurement policy to ensure all our services and materials are ethically sourced, and
  • use new innovations in clean technology for our buildings to maximise energy efficiency in our buildings.

In achieving these objectives, we aim to use the Acacia Evergreen Responsible Business plan as our guide for our sustainability efforts.

The beginning of 2022 is very close, and we are looking forward to the new year with a strong focus on our sustainability strategy and implementing it over the coming months. In realising our new responsible business practices, we endeavour to, not only create a more sustainable business, but we strive to contribute and support our client’s sustainability efforts where possible.
